AMALIA COMMUNITY CENTER-CONSTRUCTION BID AWARDED

Dear Amalia Community Member;
It is with extreme excitement I announce that yesterday, August 2, 2016 the Taos County Commissioner’s Board approved the RFP (Request for Procurement) for construction on the Amalia Community Center. The awarded contractor was Anissa Construction Co. out of Taos. The estimated construction time was initially reported to take 120 days. At the meeting, it was stated that it should not take more than 90 days once the contractor begins work.
Also, to address concerns regarding the amount of the bid being higher than the budget. Taos County has committed to infuse funds to cover the deficit and has budgeted money do so. Now, with that said, we also need to be reminded that this project does not include, painted walls, tiled floors, or a completed kitchen. For this final details, we will need to seek out legislative funds or other sources of funds to complete these details. It has not yet been determined whether or not these things can be done as an in-kind donation by community members.
This has been a long road, however we are now on the final stretch to seeing the building finished. The next step is finalizing the contract which I believe will be done between now and the next commissioner’s meeting.

Lastly, Amalia Neighborhood Association has decided to host a Chili and Salsa Contest on September 17. Please look out for details next week!

WE STILL HAVE RAFFLE TICKETS!

Yep! We still have tickets!! We only printed 800 tickets!! The Amalia Neighborhood Association supports Amalia and surrounding communities. We strive to provide events for our youth, we facilitate community clean up efforts, help Amalia families in need through the Jim Jarrell Memorial Fund; And soon, we will have a community center in which we can continue to do what we do. By purchasing a raffle ticket you are helping too! As a bonus, if you win that 4- wheeler you can take a nice ride through Amalia whenever you get a chance!

Please Read

Dear Amalia Community Members,
It has come to our attention that the meeting held on Thursday September 11, 2014, with the Department of Game and Fish, RCCLA and Art Gallegos, at the Amalia Senior Center may have been considered an Amalia Neighborhood Association (ANA) sponsored meeting. We want to assure you that the ANA was not in any way involved in that meeting.
It is general practice to inform the community of our meetings via facebook, email and or the sign that is placed by the cemetery. Our sign is titled “Amalia Neighborhood Association Meeting” or “ANA Meeting”. If you are ever in doubt, please feel free to contact any of the board members.
We have also been informed that there was an article in the Taos News on Thursday September 11, 2014 which has made several people in the community angry. As mentioned above, the ANA was not involved then and are not involved now in this matter. It is the freedom of each of us to contact the newspaper and give them our story and it is up to them to decide whether or not they want to publish it.
Sincerely,
ANA Board
